Dating is a serious matter for most people.  Nobody wants to be alone, yet nobody wants to “settle” for any partner.  Luckily, in this age of technology, the Internet can be a great way to find your perfect match in a short space of time.

Of course, the Internet does offer several types of perfect match finders and dating services.  Generally, though, they can be divided into two types: (1) those that are totally free dating websites and (2) paid subscription websites.  Before you choose between the two, there are some things that you should know about both.

Tips About Free Dating Sites:

If you are going to try using a free dating website, you should first make sure that it actually is a free dating websites.  Many dating websites only offer free trials.  Some even appear free because they let you input data and see all of your potential matches, only for you to discover later on that you have to pay to contact any of them.

A completely free dating website is usually easily recognizable by the multitude of advertisements that you will see on its pages.  That's because the website owners have to get revenue from somewhere, so they turn to advertising.  Any time one of their sponsors' links is clicked, the website receives money.

That practice comes in handy, since even free dating websites have to spend money, in order to make it.  In fact, a lot of those websites can spend thousands of dollars annually, just to maintain their website and advertise it to the general public.

Now it's true that those advertisements can get a bit annoying.  In fact, they can be downright frustrating, especially if you're viewing the same ones all the time.  However, if you're on a budget, the 100% free dating personals on a free dating site can be a great incentive to join

Multiple Free Sites:

The great thing about free dating websites is that you aren't limited to just one of them.  Since they are free to join, you can join any amount of them that you like.  That means that you can find even more great potential matches in even less time.  If you're sick of being alone, that's a wonderful thing.

Income, Age And Site Features:

Even the best free dating sites are not without their potential troubles, though.  For example, free dating websites are often frequented by retirees on fixed incomes or by those with no jobs or low-earning jobs.  So, if you want to find a match with a decent income, you may want to try a paid dating service.  Although, it's important to remember that none of that is true for every free dating website user.

In fact, there is a lot of debate about the validity of free dating websites.  A lot of people feel that nobody who is serious about finding their true love would scrimp on the dating website fees.  However, every coin has two sides.  Many people are also of the opinion that paid website users are more desperate than free dating website users and thus should be avoided.

Nevertheless, free dating websites can be a great tool.  Just be sure not to expect too much from them.  Some of them may not actually offer as many tools as paid websites do.  For example, a free dating website might be lacking an online dating forum, newsletters or chatting services.

Tips About Paid Dating Websites:

A paid dating website, on the other hand, may very well have forums, newsletters and chatting services.  They may also have a lot of bonus features and activities.  Some paid dating websites even host major events, like trail hiking and dances.  So, they are certainly worth looking into.

Price And Features:

The biggest consideration with paid dating websites is price.  Such websites can charge anywhere from $10 up for a monthly subscription.  Some websites even charge $40 per month or more.  That means that you may not be able to afford to sign up for as many paid websites as you would totally free dating websites, but that's not necessarily a bad thing.

The thing to keep in mind is that higher price usually means more bonus features.  They are making more money, so they can afford to have automated systems and even specialized consultants to meet each person's individual dating  desires and needs.

Security And Safety

Regardless of whether you choose to use free or paid dating websites, keep security ad safety in mind.  Make sure that the website you use has security features in place to protect your billing information, if it's a paid site.  Also, no matter what, never post your home address, phone number or real full name on a dating website.

Finally, when it comes to meeting your match face to face, get to know them well, first.  Also, when you do meet, tell someone you trust where you will be and meet in a public place, on neutral territory, so to speak.  Remember not to leave your food, drinks or personal property unattended during your date and use your best judgment.  If you don't like how things are going, extract yourself from the situation.  There will always be other dating opportunities.
