Rumor has it that Britney Spears is expecting her second child.
And, in the celebrity world, that's cause for an extravagantly
fabulous baby shower! What better way to make a special day even
more beautiful than by using flowers as a central decorating
theme.
Flowers can be used in an enormous number of ways to make any get
together more fun, elegant, beautiful, and special. A baby shower
is no exception. Flowers are an excellent way to celebrate a new
life; in fact, flowers are often used as a symbol of birth and
regeneration. Not only can flowers be used as lovely decorations,
but they can also be incorporated into party games and take-away
gifts for the guests. Here are some fun and unique ways you can
use flowers to make a fantastic baby shower even better:
* Corsage for the New Mom: Order a lovely corsage for the
mom-to-be to wear on the day of the party. If you know the gender
of the unborn baby, you can choose flowers in pink or blue.
However, if you're not sure, you may wish to use a combination
of the two, or gender-neutral colors like yellow. Your florist
can also add special touches like ribbons, a baby rattle, or a
toy bottle. Another alternative is to ask the guest of honor what
she plans to wear to the party and order a corsage to match her
outfit.
* Baby-Themed Centerpieces: Place a small centerpiece on each
table. A small, rounded arrangement in a dish, bowl, or basket
can be a beautiful addition to the table without the height that
can inhibit conversation. To stick with the baby theme, ask your
florist to incorporate baby's breath, bottles, rattles, bibs,
diapers, or other baby items.
* Guest Take-Aways: Place a single flower at each place setting
or hand a flower to guests as they arrive or leave. You might
even attach a small piece of paper to each stem on which the
guest can write down a guess for the baby's birth date, gender,
and weight. Collect the papers or have guests place them in a
basket so that you can record them and award the guest with the
closest answer a prize after the birth of the baby. Or, if you
plan to give out the flowers as guests leave, attach a short
thank you note to the stem.
* Flower Party Games: Purchase a number of long stemmed flowers.
Trim all of the stems to the same length, but cut one shorter
than the others. Place the flowers in an opaque vase and have
each guest pluck one flower from the vase. The person who chooses
the short stem wins!
These are just a few of the ways that flowers can make anyone's
baby shower even more special-even if the mom-to-be is a
superstar like Britney Spears!
